Deepika Padukone’s next film with Meghna Gulzar has been titled CHHAPAAK. Vikrant Massey can star opposite the actor within the film. Deepika Padukone took a sabbatical this year when the release of her film, Padmaavat. Deepika recently announced her next film that she is going to conjointly co-produce. She is going to star in Meghna Gulzar’s next supported acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal. Amidst rumors of Rajkummar Rao starring opposite Deepika within the film, it’s been confirmed that Vikrant Massey has been forged within the film. He can play the role of Laxmi’s partner Alok Dixit. As per Mumbai Mirror report, the film has been titled Chhapaak, which means the sound of the splash.
Meghna Gulzar told the daily, “The cast is slowly coming together. Vikrant is somebody I’ve wanted to work with since Raazi, after seeing him in A Death in the Gunj. In the film, he plays a North Indian boy who used to be a professional before he decided to become an actor, then, started a campaign against acid violence which is how he came to meet Laxmi in real life. I speak for both Deepika and myself when I say that we are both really excited to have Vikrant play this part.”
Meghna discovered that the film is going to be shot in Mumbai and Old Delhi and medical specialty tests are current. Talking regarding the film, she aforementioned that in the research for the film the only one that came to her mind to play the lead role is Deepika.
Deepika in agreement to try to the film at the end of the narration. “It was that organic because it’s such a moving story. And the decision to co-produce the film with her also happened organically because I wanted to remain close to it through the entire process,” Meghna Gulzar said.
